monkey see, monkey do

the age old adage goes you are the average of the 5 people you’re closest with (or something like that)

now, any person with a speck of ambition would be absolutely cooked through this theory if they grew up in brampton, ontario - but the beauty of the modern age is that you can artificially curate this list of 5(ish) people. your physical circumstances can be superseded with an online presence and a stack of books.

you are able to choose what sorts of people & content you see on your timelines. you can choose your brain diet, and make it the highest quality.

and on the other hand, you are able to spend hours with the greatest thinkers across the entire span of humanity. you can spend hours with feynman. hours with paul graham. hours with hans zimmer. hours with steve jobs. all for a couple bucks.

every day, I see amazing people on X, and I feel inspired to do better as a human being, and to actualize a life vision for myself. I’m grateful for my books, and I’m grateful for X, because without those, I might have just ended up buying & selling houses like everyone else in brampton (no shade <3)
